Through Mathilde, we glimpse the everyday life of a woman who lives alone and has now grown older. She spends her days engaged in cherished rituals and habits. And yet her time seems to run out again and again, to stretch endlessly, or to condense into a moment of unexpected happiness. The mundane becomes a grueling and adventurous exploration of space, as reality and imagination merge: A melody wells up inside her and carries her away—into dance, into the past, into the life she once had.

 

The ALONE project explores, through dance and the medium of puppetry, the realm of perception and memory in aging people.
